T O P I C R E V I E WBrian RobbinsI have the following autographs for sale:Tom HenricksCharles WalkerRusty SchweickartGene CernanOwen GarriottEd MitchellRichard GordonBruce MelnickJohn KonradJohn BlahaRoy BridgesFarouk El Baz- See my ebay auctions for more details, my username is UKAutographShop - they close this Saturday at 10pm GMT. If the Buy It Now items don't sell, feel free to email after they close and make me an offer.ThanksBrianFrederic JanikBrian,Nothing personal, but I believe this auction for Rusty Schweickart's autograph is wrong. This guy does not sign through the mail, and made a nice and very generous for -lucky- you.Now it's publicized everywhere that he "could" make exceptions, and as a result the mail flow to him is going to be multiplied many times I'm sure. Then what? No more exceptions for anyone is a risk.I believe this is another way to alienate more the veterans astros. I know for sure this is far from being your intention but it just might be the result of this auction.Best regardsFrederic JanikRichardI agree. This is probably the reason why some astronauts don't sign. Heck, I wouldn't sign things if I thought somebody was just going to turn around and try and make a buck off me. Also, it seems that collectspace has become more and more an advertisement for people with ebay based companies and autograph dealers selling on ebay. I mean, we even have people trying to hock Muhammad Ali signatures on the board! What do other people think?[This message has been edited by Richard (edited December 11, 2003).]Brian RobbinsOK guys - I've got a few items surplus to my collection that I want to get rid of, that's all. The Rusty Schweickart I bought from Jurgen Esders, I didn't get it thru the mail as I know he doesn't sign so I don't bother him. Now, I may have the ebay name UKAutographShop but I don't usually sell Astronaut autographs, I COLLECT Astronaut autographs. I buy and sell autographs from other fields (check out my items for sale if you don't believe me) in order to fund my purchase of Astronaut autographs - how else could I afford a Neil Armstrong, Jack Swigert, or Bill Anders?!And the only reason I chose UKAutographShop as my username was because I got so spammed using my email address as my username that ebay told me to change it and that was the only name with 'autograph' in it that wasn't taken!Anyway, I am extremely thankful for the Astronaut Autograph Club. Belonging to it should bring an end to this frustating merry-go-round. If the Astronauts who don't usually sign will sign for the ASF, then there's hope for all of us to complete our collections without spending over the odds and without offending anyone... and it's all for a good cause.I rest my case.Thank you.Brian.Keith BarberI cannot see any problem with Brian and E.bay is the main place to sell and easy for us to click on their listings from here if links are given, their multiples maybe my major wants - this is a Buy,Sell and Trade forum also!.[This message has been edited by Keith Barber (edited December 11, 2003).]DSeuss5490I have purchased some exceptional items directly from CollectSpace members--even a wonderful Muhammad Ali signed photo! DeanJasonBI don't understand what the big deal is-I mean it's not like he wrote "Bombard Schweickart with mail!" in his auction. He's simply selling a signed note. I'd like to assume Rusty Schweickart is an adult and wouldn't care about him selling this note, because if he gave it to him(or whoever had it originally) he has no right to.That note sure was funny though. I've read more warmth in eviction notices . Sometimes I wonder if some of these astronauts are friends with J.D. Salinger . David StephensonI cant see a problem with Brian selling surplus autographs on Ebay.Id be much happier buying from a fellow collector simply from the trust side of thngs and knowing they would be genuine.David.Frederic JanikWell. My original comment had nothing to do with selling things on eBay in general. I too enjoy dealing and trading with fellow collectors. The problem to me was:1- "publishing" very clearly that an astro can sign TTM (even though the official word is that he doesn't want it) - and just because he was nice and made an exception he'll get flooded..2- and selling THAT particular item, which too me is really psuhing it to the limit.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62&item=3258633665 Again, I have nothing against Brian but still felt quite strongly against this particular eBay listing.Frederic JanikPS: Whey-hey! 100 posts [This message has been edited by Frederic Janik (edited December 12, 2003).]
