T O P I C R E V I E WmdmyerHas anyone had the chance to ask EECOM John Aaron for an autograph lately? I was wondering what his signing habits were? Does he sign freely or would he rather not sign?Capcom1I am hoping to meet one of my biggest heroes, John Aaron, at the Seattle Museum of Flight. Anyone have any good ideas on items for him to sign (if I'm lucky enough to get the chance)?I was thinking maybe the Apollo 13 Mission Reports book, any other ideas?mdmyerI had the chance to meet Aaron last fall when he was inducted in to the Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame. Here are some photos of him at that event as well as an article I posted.I asked him to sign my copy of "Apollo: Race to the Moon" as well as an 8x10" color print of the Mission Control emblem. I purchased the emblem print from Farthest Reaches and it had already been signed by Sy Liebergot. They also sell the same print that has been signed by Gene Kranz.micropoozAaron was also the EECOM for the Apollo 12 launch when the vehicle got hit by lightning. Aaron's decisions there helped to keep Apollo 12 from coming home early. So if you have anything related to the Apollo 12 launch...Capcom1"Apollo 12, Try SCE to AUX.."Anyone got a flown CM panel for sale, cheap? Buel quote:Originally posted by mdmyer:Does he sign freely or would he rather not sign? Can anyone give an up to date opinion on this, please?SamDoes anyone know whether John Aaron, the NASA engineer, signs through the mail?JasonIUPHe'd rather not sign. I think this comes from the fact that he "detests" autographs being resold. His word, not mine. He's very difficult to deal with; I found him to be nearly offensive.Bob MWas surprised to see here that John Aaron may "detest" signing autographs now, but for me some years ago, he nicely signed and inscribed: "Apollo 11 EECOM" on a cover. As a bonus he also nicely signed the two space cover insert cards I had inside the cover. Respecting his dislike of autograph commercialization, I would be glad to give Sam one of these cards for free, if he wants one, and also the second one free for the first collector who contacts me. (Update: Both cards are now spoken for by Sam and Jurg.)David CareyEach situation is different perhaps but John was kind enough to sign a CM Environmental Control System hardware component for me in 2009. I was doing an interview with John at his home and couldn't resist bringing along what he called "a piece of my system!" for a signature.Sadly his writing has all but faded away in the intervening years (bad pen choice) but there was no reluctance at the time to honor my request and John was a most gracious host for almost two hours.
