T O P I C R E V I E WcasdonI had a appt at Ft Belivor,VA yesterday so I stopped in the Thrift Shop and I found a copy of Scott Carpenter Book and for giggles I looked at the Title page and YES it was sign by Mr. Carpenter only ,as I have one signed by him and his daughter at the Air and Space , so I bought it for $3.50 and I checked it with my other copy and it looks authentic.It pays to check out thrift stores.CasdonScottCongratulations Casdon!EagleKeeperCongrats on the find! I have had similar instances when I hit the Thrift Shops. It gives you one of those feelings that you stumbled accross the Holy Grail ( o.k. not that bad.), and of course you never put that book down, or let it out of your sight till it's paid for.From The USAF, Brian.tegwilymI've had that happen four times now at Half Price Books. Ed Mitchell, Brian Shul (SR-71 Book), Jerry Linenger, and just last week I found Gene Kranz's signed book. I'll probably put Kranz's up on Ebay since I already have one that was signed in person. I ALWAYS flip the books open now and check for signatures. TomnojnjI found Gene Cernan's signed book at the Wright Pat AFB Museum a couple of years ago. Never know where treasures will appear!WehaveliftoffI've found over the years, Gene Kranz, Sally Ride, & Jim Lovell Astronaut-wise.I actually nearly asked Gene to sign it only to open it up & see a signed bookplate. He eagerly wanted to see the pressing and said it was probably sold at a Sam's Club or alike!:}
From The USAF,
Brian.
I ALWAYS flip the books open now and check for signatures.
