Cosmosphere Closes Portion of Hall of Space Museum Due to Plumbing Mishap September 26, 2015, at approximately 9 a.m., a break in the coupling on a sewer line caused contaminated water to enter the Cosmosphere's basement. The water spillage impacted a small area in the Apollo Gallery, located behind Apollo 13. No artifacts were damaged. Repair and cleaning of affected areas and materials is already underway by Phoenix Restoration Services. The Apollo Gallery will remain closed to the public until cleaning and repairs are complete. "We were fortunate to learn of the break very soon after it occurred and took steps to mitigate damage and begin repairs immediately," said Richard Hollowell, Cosmosphere CEO. "While we are, once again, disappointed that this disrupts the complete experience for visitors, the damage was contained to a small areas, for which we are grateful." The Hall of Space will continue to be open to visitors while repair and cleaning of the affected areas is completed. During this time, visitors will be unable to access the Apollo Gallery. An announcement will be made when full access to the Hall of Space Museum is once again available. All upcoming events will proceed as scheduled.
