[b]Roscosmos announces open call for cosmonauts[/b] An interdepartmental commission on Tuesday (March 14) announced the start of a campaign by the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia to recruit the 2017 Roscosmos cosmonaut class. The goal is to select leading specialists who have the skills of working with space and/or aircraft equipment to become the first pilots of the new Russian spacecraft "Federation," and who will work on board the International Space Station (ISS) and become the first Russians to fly to the moon. Roscosmos plans to recruit six to eight candidates to supplement the current cosmonaut corps. Applicants will have to go through several selection stages, including complying with educational and professional fitness requirements to ensure they can complete the training programs for cosmonauts. General requirements: [list][*]Applicants must be a citizen of the Russian Federation. [*]Applicants should be 35 years or younger. [*]Applicants must have a degree in engineering, scientific or flight specialties and have work experience. Priority for selection will be given to those who have experience in the aviation and rocket and space industry of the Russian Federation.
