Glenn to tour nation to promote Memoir

October 12, 1999 — Former Senator and astronaut John Glenn will visit 14 cities to promote his autobiography, John Glenn: A Memoir, according to information released today by publisher Bantam Books. His nearly month-long trip will begin soon after the books hit stores on Nov. 2.

Beginning in his home state of Ohio and returning several times throughout the tour, Glenn will also visit community centers, military bases and book stores in seven states and the nation's capital. Bantam has no plans to schedule more locations beyond those announced.

It is not yet known whether Glenn's co-author, Nick Taylor will join the astronaut on the tour.

A Memoir is a collection of stories about Glenn's and his wife Annie's life experiences, originally gathered for their grandchildren. Glenn has insisted he did not write a book about himself. "It's a memoir, not a biography," Glenn has been quoted as saying.
